ABOUT Artist Jorge Ferreyra-Basso
Jorge believes that his passion for cars was born with him in Buenos Aires in 1943. He fulfilled his vocation when in 1964 he became a designer for Baufer, coachbuilders specialising in bodywork for racing cars, where he produced many successful designs. In 1968 at the age of 24 he gave up his 5th-year studies in Engineering to take up the post of Design Manager for General Motors Argentina.
In 1978, after holding an exhibition in the Central Hall of the Argentine Automobile Club of his pastel and other drawings on motor sport, he left Argentina to continue his career in the Design Department of Opel in Germany. In Europe he returned once more to his pastel colours to further develop his desire to put onto paper the speed and emotion motor racing.
Jorge is the author of more than 60 posters for a variety of motoring events from the Italian Mille Miglia and Targa Florio (and of course the Argentine Mil Millas Sport), to Oldtimer rallies in Germany and the United States. From his first “vernissage” in the old pits of Nurburgring in 1983 he went on to hold various exhibitions including during the period 1994-1997 when he reorganised and became Chief Designer, Color and Trim Studio and Seat Design Development for all Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Buick, Saturn and GMC with General Motors, Detroit.

Jorge Ferreyra-Basso passed away on the 2nd of March 2021 in Buenos Aires.
